Winter Is Here!

Okay, I am back and I promise I'll stop with the long hiatuses and it was actually one of my resolutions for this 2016 year.

I want to start by wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year! I've got some BIG plans for you in 2016 as I will be moving out, which means MORE videos, MORE blog posts, and MORE everything :) For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you may have see my latest project which I kicked off on January 1st - my Project 366. If you don't follow me on Instagram yet then you should! :) @themagandapanda

I've been yearning to get this post out asap because we're now hitting that mid-point of winter in NY, and the weather has been getting colder and colder as the month goes on. Furthermore, we got our first coating of snow down in southern New York (haha shocker!) But really, people are going nuts after the unusually warm Christmas we had.

Those of you who are exposed to the cold weather and not protecting yourself, that will cause you to have premature aging, cracked skin, or even dry, brittle hair! All of which I'm positive you all don't want - here's where I come in :)

1) PROBLEM: DRY SKIN
SOLUTION: MOISTURIZER
During the cooler months, you have to pack on the moisture to create a nice barrier between nature's elements and your precious, delicate skin. It's always best practice to wear moisturizer on a daily basis, putting it on right before your makeup in the morning and before you sleep at night. What I recommend is a sleep mask or pack, a super hydrating moisturizer, that you put on as your last step in your skincare routine. You sleep with it on and when you wake up in the morning, your skin will feel super soft and smooth!

2)  PROBLEM: WRINKLES / EARLY SIGNS OF AGING
SOLUTION: TONER
It's time to tighten up! All signs of aging skin - wrinkles, fine lines, sagging - are due to the lack of elasticity on your skin. So, just like you tone up your body, you've got to tone up your skin as well! Toners have ingredients that not only help with light exfoliation, but it also shrinks pores which results in a tighter, smoother skin. However, be sure to always follow up with a moisturizer as certain toners can actually alter the pH balance of your skin because it exfoliates.

3)  PROBLEM: DRY, BRITTLE HAIR
SOLUTION: COVER UP
First things first, spoil and baby your hair with a weekly mask or hot oil treatment. My favorite oils are Moroccan Argan Oil and Coconut Oil or Milk. Moroccan Argan Oil is very popular nowadays because of its many uses for beauty and skincare, however Coconut Oil is just as great for similar and different reasons. Both are perfect for taming frizz, de-tangling hair, and improving scalp health by keeping it hydrated. Both oils are rich in Vitamin E, Omega-3's and fatty acids which are essential to hair and scalp health. As with all oils - be sure to use them sparingly as too much will cause your hair to appear greasy.  Once your hair is treated, be sure to protect it! Build a barrier around your precious locks with hats, scarves, and of course hoods. There are so many cute ones out there these days that you'll be sure to find something that matches your style!

Maganda Panda recommends: Josie Maran Argan Oil and Crochet Braided Knit Caps
