Here we are a week later and my nails are done up once again!

Polka dots are another nail trend this season! Would you believe me if I said this was my first time attempting this look? It's so much easier than I thought. I decided to put a twist to it by having the pinky nail different instead of the middle/ring fingers. I wanted to try something different from my usual one or two colored nails, what do you think?

Have  you tried dotted nails? What's your favorite nail trend?

What's on my nails this week?

As we know, most nail polishes can last about a week if cared for properly. So since a week has passed, here I am with a fresh new manicure!

My boyfriend said it reminded him of a beach (ocean blue with golden sand) so I'd like to call this look Oceanic Luxury. What do you think of the combination?

What's on your nails this week? Leave a comment or better yet, pictures!

L'Oreal Color Riche Balm

Lipstick butters & balms are really becoming the next best thing. Revlon started the trend in drugstores with their Colorburst lip butters. Now L'Oreal with their Color Riche Balms.

I made my first purchase yesterday because I was curious how it matched up with the Lip Butters. As you know (or may not know) I adore the Revlon Lip Butters, I even named it my favorite all-purpose lipstick!

After trying these Color Riche Balms, I've found that they work pretty much the same as the Revlon Lip butters. These have an SPF 15, Argan Oil, Rose Oil, and Shea butter. They are very hydrating, but aren't pigmented like the Revlon Lip butters.

They claim to last 8hrs, but it doesn't for me. I pretty much reapply after eating or drinking anything. The moisture, however, DOES last a really long time. I don't need any type of balm when I wear this, and I realized that even after I removed it my lips were still very soft. The color is a sheer tint, and is because it is actually more of a balm than a lipstick (hence the name.)

The color I got was in Caring Coral and it pretty much matches my lip color exactly because it's so sheer. But it pairs great with my everyday eye makeup, so this is my new favorite everyday lip wear.

Case of the Mondays?

Do you ever suffer from a case of the Mondays? I definitely do, especially since I'm not much of a morning person either (guilty!)

Today it's very rainy here in the East Coast. It's been raining since Saturday and it's been on & off since then. I tend to dress according to the weather - literally! Hence the darker outfit today to fit the gloomy day, but I didn't want to be totally dark & gloomy so I added a pop of color in the most basic of ways. Color really helps me fight off any case of the Mondays.

Pastel Purple tank. Black velor hooded zip-sweatshirt. Black AE jeans.
Leather Jacket. Ring Candy. Tall Leather boots. (not shown)

I kept my hair simple with my everyday beachy waves. And kept the makeup even more simple looking with only liner on the top, brown eyeliner on the bottom outer corner, and a white pencil on the bottom inner corners. My lipstick is the semi-new L'Oreal Color Riche Balm in Caring Coral.

I think this look gives that tougher edge, but it could just be the leather jacket paired with the hoodie & leather boots haha.

What kind of outfits do you wear in gloomy weather? How do you beat a case of the Mondays?

The past few days I've had a pretty hectic schedule and didn't have time to put a lot of effort into my outfits like I usually do. No sweat! I've stocked up on little pieces recently that can really pull an outfit together and create a new style that really looks like you've put effort into your look.

Look 1: Tuesday

A simple flower clip to hold my side braid. Instantly I look ready to take on the sunlight of the beautiful spring day it was on Tuesday. I have layers so not all of my hair stays in the braid, but it's okay. I think for this look, the messier the better, but to polish it off a nice flower clip definitely did the job. Happy spring!

Look 2: Thursday

These shoes really pulled my super basic outfit together with that pop of style. My outfit was a plain loose gray tank, a blazer, jeans and a woven belt & of course some neck candy. Overall boring huh? I thought so too, but I was in a rush. So I broke these babies out and voila! My outfit was complete. Nothing like a stylish shoe to totally change the outfit right?

I think accessories are a MUST have, especially if you want to look like you put effort into your look, but really didn't. They can really tie an outfit together in a whole new way.

Remember: A little goes a long way!

What are your go-to accessories?

What's on my nails this week?

essie nail lacquer in "blanc" (008) & "mint candy apple" (702)

Pastel colors are definitely a trend for this spring & summer seasons. But why? Well after a dark, cold winter naturally we're awaken and happier with brighter colors.

Pastels are soft, not harsh, and are an easy transition into spring. If you want to try a bright color but don't feel ready just yet, opt for this great alternative.

I've also added the one different nail trend. It's a personal favorite of mine that I've been doing way before it became a trend, so it's nice to see it catching on. It's nice to get away from monochromatic (one color) nails once in a while.

What's on your nails this week? Any favorite colors for this season?

Heat products

For those of you who use heat products frequently, it's extremely important to protect your hair. As we know, many of the latest styles today can't be achieved quickly without the heat. So if you're one of those who can't put down the heat, make sure you're giving  your hair the care it needs!

Conditioner will become your hair's best friend because you loose a great of moisture from essentially burning your hair. Baby your hair in the shower with conditioner and out of the shower with a leave-in conditioner, focusing on your ends.

Use a heat protectant before you use flat or curling irons and blow-dryers. Most heat protectants today actually work with heat to achieve the style you want without risking your hair's health completely.

Fashion Friday!

Hey everyone!

So sorry for my long hiatus, this week has been super super hectic for me. But now I'm back!!

To start I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Friday! And to celebrate I thought I'd show you my "casual Friday" outfit. Keep in mind, this is not a work outfit. It's casual in terms of everyday/school/shopping/etc.

Panda crop top. AE Jeans. Brown woven belt.
Black loose blazer.  Ballet flats. &Finger candy.

For those who don't know, I adore pandas. I just think they're so cute and so it really was a matter of time until I bought a panda shirt (it's my only one too). This particular shirt actually donates to the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF), so you can be fashionable and help out a good cause. As for me, this is my only animal tee, however, they have been growing on me and I'm ready to purchase a couple more perhaps.

What do you think of animal tees? Love or hate them?

Dry skin?

So the winter's passed, but the winds are still here from time to time. Elements from the outdoors take a toll on your skin over time, some more than others. Lack of sleep and an unhealthy diet can also cause your skin to look dull. But all hope is not lost because there are solutions to this common skin issue, and you don't have to see a dermatologist to get this advice either.

If you suffer from dry skin, you should make sure you have these two things -  an exfoliator and moisturizer .

Tip of the Day: Skincare

Dark circles -- they affect us all for the most part. The key to effectively targeting YOUR dark circles depends on your skin.

Creams and concealers can help to aid dark circles, but only if that's what your skin actually needs. In other words, there's no point in using creams to treat puffy eyes if you're eyes aren't even puffy. And oversleeping won't rid your under-eye darkness either, if you already sleep enough.

Some common sources are:
1) Puffy Eyes (casts a shadow)
2) Fair skin (allows the blue vessels to show)
3) Saggy skin (comes with age)
4) Poor diet / Dehydration (water is your friend!)
5) Allergies (causes puffy eyes)
6) Sun damage (discolors the eye area)

Target the source of your dark circles first, then move onto concealer if needed.

Good luck & Stay Maganda! <3

Less really is more

This was my look for today. See how fresh it looks?

All I used was an eyelash curler, mascara, and lip stain. For the flawless face: my usual concealer, mineral powder, and of course moisturizer! And that's it! Minimal makeup is actually a trend seen on the west coast of the US, particularly California, but not so much on the east coast here in NY. I think it's because in NY we like to be bold and out there, but I guess that's to be expected as one of the fashion capitols in the world. However, I like to take a break from the eyeliner and lipstick once in a while. Less makeup also makes you look younger & more innocent, because if you think about it, you didn't wear makeup as a kid. This is just so fresh and doesn't look so overpowering. Even better, a look like this takes no more than 5 minutes!

Do you like the minimal look? Or do you like to be bold and out there?

Greetings!

I am currently in the process of editing & soon uploading a new video -- sexy soft curls.

It's a look I typically use as an everyday look and I add new twists every time I do it. In my video you'll get to see the basics of how I do it, but definitely add your own twist to it as well!

I love it because curls can be glammed up or toned down with accessories, makeup, or even what you're wearing. Play around with it! That's what really makes waves and curls oh-so-fun!

In the meantime:
LIKE my Facebook page so you can stay updated with what I'm up to all over the web, not just here. You are also more than welcome to leave suggestions, questions, anything really.

Lastly, I want to send out a special thanks to my followers for your support, questions, and tips! :)

Casual Monday?

Okay, I know it's not Monday. But here was my outfit this past Monday and I just didn't have a chance to upload & write since it was such a busy day for me (and Tuesdays as well). On Monday, I had 3 classes and work and then I went out to a casual dinner (wing night) with friends to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday.

The shirt is Killbrand's "Class Cred" oversized tee. American Eagle jeans.
Old navy cardigan in Black. Vera Wang tall boots (forgot the name.)

This is very casual for me because I usually don't wear t-shirts, but with this I love the creative distortion to the classic Chanel brand symbol. Printed tees are a good way to branch out from the typical plain t-shirt trend. I jazzed up the outfit with statement rings, some big & some small, which are my "go-tos" for adding some accents. I topped off the look with my leather jacket.

What do you wear on casual days? Do you have a "go-to" or a favorite piece of fashion?

Tip of the Day: Skincare

Now that the sun is out longer it means your skin is exposed to even more harmful UV rays. This means that it's even more important you protect your skin with sunscreen.

For those who don't like sunscreen because of the smell or what have you, opt for a moisturizer that has at least a SPF of 15 and cover your face thoroughly. Don't skimp on it. Luckily, some foundations and primers today come with some degree of SPF included already, just make sure you have at minimum a SPF of 15.

Protecting your skin will give it the care needed and will actually delay signs of aging. It's proven that unprotected skin will noticeably age (wrinkles, dark circles, fine lines, etc.)

Even on those cloudy days, UV rays still penetrate the skin. So make sure you moisturize even then.

Take care of your skin! It's the only one you'll have.

What are your favorite moisturizers/sunscreens? Do you wear hats to further protect your face?
